To effectively coordinate the implementation of disaster risk management programmes through overseeing disaster prevention, mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery activities.

DoDMA, MRCS, Districts Councils Meet On Return Of IDPs

The Department of Disaster Management Affairs(DoDMA), Malawi Red Cross Society (MRCS) and district councils on Thursday, (18^th April, 2019) held a consultative meeting in Blantyre on the return of internally displaced persons (IDPs), currently residing in camps.

The Principal Secretary and Commissioner for Disaster Management Affairs Wilson Moleni said in view of the improving weather condition, the drying up of the March 2019 flood affected areas and progress made in responding to the calamity, it was of paramount importance that his department facilitates a participatory resettlement/return of the IDPs and transition to early recovery and development.

“The meeting is aimed at sharing information and plans on the return process and setting the foundation and pace for early recovery of the affected population in a coordinated manner.
