Since 2012,the Department has been implementing a Disaster Risk Management Programme supported with funds from United Nations Development Programme. The programme focuses on three key outputs as follows:
- Disaster Risk Management mainstreamed in policies and development plans
- Data and knowledge on the impact of natural disasters collected and made accessible to decision makers in Government,private sector,civil society and communities
- Coordination mechanisms and implementation arrangements for DRM/DRR established and used at national level and in the 15 disaster prone districts. The period for implementation is from 2012-2016.
